WHAT MAKES SOME TEAMS SUCCESSFUL AND OTHERS A DISASTER?
Chances are your life is full of teams and the people on them. Whether in business, marriage, or family, teams can accomplish more together or quickly fall into dysfunction. Teams are as different as the people in them.
Over the years, we have been part of a wide variety of teams including a family business, a pioneer spirited NGO, a get-er-done startup business, an established service industry, an educational program, an ERP software provider, and this family team of ours with two little tykes. More recently we have worked with over 70 business and non-profit teams across multiple continents and cultures.
Whew! So how do we navigate communication and tasks and relationships on these different teams? What makes some teams successful and others a disaster? How do we eliminate the stressors and bad cycles and build productive teams?
Quite a few years ago my own team was stressed, distrusting, and inching close to burn out. I turned cynical and dove into discouragement. Thankfully our team and our leader (can we give a shout out to all brave leaders!) recognized the need for change, invited a coach, worked extremely hard, and I’m still amazed at the growth that followed.
Somewhere along the way I discovered I love facilitating events where teams can grow and thrive – while having fun together! Over 125 workshops later, I’m all about helping your team learn the people skills they need to perform. And giving you the support you need to build a successful team.
